The Prostate Cancer Charity
More Info...
Prostate cancer was for so long a neglected health issue - neither understood by the public nor prioritised by politicians. By any dimension, prostate cancer simply didn’t register on the radar screen. It was against this background that The Prostate Cancer Charity was set up in 1996. In its relatively short life, the Charity has played a key role in raising both public awareness of the disease and political debate about services and support... and there is now a real sense that for the cause of prostate cancer, the time has come. We are the largest and most comprehensive of the charities focused specifically on prostate cancer. We aim to provide hope for tomorrow through the research that we fund - and practical support for today through our extensive - and growing - information services. Over recent years we have invested nearly £5 million in vital medical research and supported thousands of men and their families. Our contact with so many people whose lives have been directly affected by prostate cancer, feeds into all we do, giving us a real breadth of knowledge to underpin our work.

Unicef
More Info...
UNICEF helps children receive the support, health care and education they need to survive the threats of childhood poverty - such as preventable disease or malnutrition - and grow up to become healthy adults. We encourage families to educate girls as well as boys, so both men and women can play a full role in family life and broader society. We strive to protect children from violence and abuse, and from exploitation through child labour or trafficking. We also protect children in the midst of war and natural disasters, and provide emergency assistance, usually within 48 hours.

Orchid Cancer Appeal
More Info...
Formed in 1996 by former testicular cancer patient, Colin Osborne, Orchid is the only UK registered cancer charity to focus entirely on the male-specific cancers; prostate, penile and testicular. We exist to save lives and suffering caused by these diseases by funding medical research and promoting awareness about them. We raise voluntary funds which enable us to continue funding pioneering research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these dreadful diseases and improve education about them so that symptoms can be recognised and medical attention sought early; helping doctors to find cancers at an early stage when treatment is easier. Men should not die because of ignorance or embarrassment. - Testicular cancer is the most common cancer for men aged 15-45; each year around 2,000 young men are diagnosed and face the emotional and physical trauma of fighting this disease.
- Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with around 35,000 cases diagnosed and 10,000 deaths each year; this equates to one man dying every hour.
- Penile cancer affects around 400 men each year; normally over the age of 60. Sadly one in four patients does not survive.
Behind each statistic is a man; a father, son, brother, grandfather and friend, and behind each man there are family and friends who are affected by these uniquely men’s cancers.
